Its been several days since my last post. I guess I call it a blog spasm. My blog spasm is defined by a blank sense of the brain which has a hard time coming up with anything worth telling about.
That is until now.
Tonight I am on my own for dinner. Normally at Safeway, I would never buy the ready made sushi, but this Safeway I stopped into (which is not in my neighborhood) had this really appealing sushi display that appeared to look like it was just made.
I purchased my favorite…spicy tuna.
Once home, I tucked Tiny-Tot into bed after her bath and story.
Now time for ME!
I oo’ed and ahhh’ed over every yummy bite….until….I saw the ingredients.
Absolutely horrified to read, “Carbon Monoxide added in order to preserve fish color.”
What? Carbon monoxide added. Why? Are you kidding? Seriously? Like, now I even have to check my fresh sushi package to see something like this would be added?!
I know what Carbon monoxide is.
But just to make sure I.know what.carbon.monoxide.is, I looked it up on Wikipedia.
“Carbon monoxide (CO), also called carbonic oxide, is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas which is lighter than air. It is highly toxic to humans and animals in higher quantities”
Done and done. That’s all I needed to read. I don’t care what the amount is. If anyone can tell me that this is an OK and a legitimate supplement to be added to sushi in order to preserve its color, when I thought I was buying something fresh….then I need to know immediately!

The GREATEST blog that I read all month!

Okay…that is REALLY scary! I have bought the “fresh” sushi from Safeway a few times in the past. Never again! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It’s just SHOCKING it’s even allowed!
